ST. PAUL, Minn. – Twin City Co-ops FCU, the area’s fifth-largest credit union, yesterday changed its name to Spire FCU.
The 74-year-old credit union said the new name reflects market research that indicated the need for a strong, yet simple brand identity to eliminate confusion and enhance market potential. A spire is a peak or a summit, reflecting the credit union’s future goals.
The $575 million credit union was chartered in 1934 to serve employees of Midland Oil Cooperatives. It now serves residents in Minnesota and adjourning Wisconsin communities.
