Two Men Charged In Theft of ATM

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Two men have been arrested here and charged with felonies after stealing an ATM from the Daytona Beach News-Journal building.

Police said Jamie Greene, 40, was arrested and charged with grand theft of an automobile and burglary after investigators said he left the News-Journal, where he has worked for 15 years, at 3 a.m. and then returned an hour later and unbolted an ATM from the floor. The ATM belonged to Space Coast Credit Union. Greene allegedly used some type of wheeled dolly to transport the 685-pound ATM and load it into a van, before driving it to a residence. Although police said Greene attempted to cover a surveillance camera and cut wires to the ATM, a neighbor reported seeing sparks coming from the vehicle and contacted police.

Also arrested was Nick Ordway, 31, who has been charged as an accomplice. No money was taken from the ATM.
