SALT LAKE CITY – University FCU announced yesterday it has promoted its chief operating officer Jack Buttars to be president and CEO, succeeding Phil Janovak, who has headed the now $470 million credit union for 29 years.
Buttars joined the credit union in 2001 as the audit manager, then became chief of staff. During this time, Buttars assisted in developing the credit union’s application for a federal charter. In April 2004, Buttars became the vice president of operations and retained his prior duties as chief of staff.
University FCU had a strong 2008, with 17% growth in assets and $2.5 million in net income.
Buttar took over on Jan. 3.
