CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. University of Virginia Community CU has joined four local banks in new program to provide affordable banking products, called “BankOn Greater Charlottesville.”
The initiative is modeled after similar programs in more than two dozen cities and connects private and public institutions to provide safe checking and deposit accounts for low-income communities. These products include affordable checking and deposit accounts, including account options for people who have never had a bank account or who may have had difficulties with accounts in the past.
Participating banks are BB&T, StellarOne Bank, Union First Market Bank and Virginia National Bank.
