MIAMI – Shutts & Bowen, LLP, announced this afternoon it has hired Francois Henriquez, the former general counsel at U.S. Central FCU who headed the failed corporate credit union under NCUA conservatorship, to work in its credit union practice.
“This is a significant addition to our firm; François has a top-notch national financial reputation and has had extensive experience in dealing with the nation’s senior financial industry regulators,” said Bowman Brown, chairman of Shutts & Bowen’s executive committee and the firm’s Financial Services Practice Group. “François adds depth to our group and broadens our national footprint.”
Henriquez joined the one-time $52 billion central bank for credit unions in 1993 as general counsel, then was hired by NCUA to run the corporate under conservatorship in March 2009. NCUA closed U.S. Central October 29, after running it for 30 months. U.S. Central was one of five corporates to fail.
