TOKYO - (01/30/06) Customers of Sumitomo MitsuiBank will be able to use their cell phones to withdraw cash attheir ATMs starting this fall. The Japanese banking giant isretrofitting about 7,000 of its ATMs to provide the cell phone cashservice. To access the cash machines, customers will hold a cellphone equipped with an RFID chip near the ATM, then use a password.Advocates say the service will provide greater security thanmagnetic cards, from which information can be stoleneasily.
