MADISON, Wis.-UW Credit Union's fundraising drive for the University of Wisconsin and Madison Area Technical College raised more than $1.5 million.

The credit union announced it was donating $215,000 for need-based financial aid in October, then agreed to match contributions from its members until Dec. 31. In addition, the UW Foundation agreed to match total gifts from the credit union and its members.
The funds are being placed in a permanent endowment, with the earnings given as aid to students who have been accepted into the schools but are unable to afford the cost of attendance.
