Velocity CU Names Successor To The Late CEO Larry Strong

AUSTIN, Texas – Velocity CU announced yesterday it has promoted its president, Debbie Mitchell, to the post of CEO, succeeding long-time CEO Larry Strong, who died in November.

Mitchell, named president in 2007, had been the $475 million credit union’s chief operating officer and led it through a rebranding campaign and branch expansion from 2003 to 2005 when it changed its name from Austin Municipal CU.

Strong who died of a heart attack Nov. 23 at 61, was with the credit union for more than 30 years, the last 20 as president and CEO.
