HOPKINTON, Ma.. – Acquisitive EMC Corp., the provider of online security and authentication systems, said Monday it has acquired privately held Verid Inc., an online security provider based in Florida. Verid delivers knowledge-based authentication solutions and has clients that include some of the largest financial institutions, telecom providers and retailers. Verid’s knowledge-based authentication solution is used by several credit union vendors, including CashEdge and TriCypher. Terms of the transaction were not made public. Over the past two years EMC has transformed itself by branching out from its core data storage provider to a leader in online security, with acquisitions of Cyota and RSA Security.
