CHICAGO – Eight suspects, including seven employees at a local Wal-Mart store, were charged last week with using credit card accounts at two policemen credit unions to buy at least $150,000 in merchandise.

The fraud ring hit 140 accounts at Illinois State Police CU and the Chicago Patrolmen's CU.
The employees either bought merchandise fraudulently or helped other people buy goods fraudulently. Investigators began their probe after people with accounts at the two credit unions found out someone was making fraudulent purchases on their cards, according to police.
The suspects allegedly stole the card data from the two credit unions then created their own counterfeit cards to facilitate the fraudulent purchases.
