SEATTLE Six credit unions have joined to offer $5,000 monthly prizes and a $5,000 annual prize for the state’s Save To Win lottery, the fourth state to offer the savings contest.
As in Michigan, North Carolina and Nebraska, members at participating credit unions can enter the sweepstakes by taking out a $25 Save To Win CD.
“Save to Win offers the excitement of a lottery without the risks of losing the money used to purchase a ticket,” the Northwest CU Association, which is organizing the sweepstakes, said in a release Tuesday.

The six credit unions participating are OBee CU, TwinStar CU, North Coast CU, Fibre FCU, Connection CU and Express CU.
The prizes for Washington’s inaugural savings contest are smaller than those offered in the other states: Michigan, which created the first savings sweepstakes, first offered a $100,000 prize and this year awarded ten $10,000 prizes; North Carolina and Nebraska are both awarding $25,000 prizes.
