SEATTLE – Share CU said it has agreed to merge into Watermark CU, creating one of the largest credit unions in the Puget Sound area.
Watermark CU has almost $500 million in assets and operates seven branches, while Share CU has $32 million in assets and has two Seattle branches.
"Mergers like these are becoming more common among credit unions as the financial industry becomes more competitive and strives to keep up with rising costs and increased regulation and compliance," Watermark officials said in a statement.
