Weber State Federal Credit Union will rebrand as Ascent Credit Union beginning on May 1, 2020.

The Ogden, Utah-based institution historically served faculty and staff at Weber State University, but Vickie van der Have, president and CEO of the $130 million-asset credit union, said in a press release, “we needed a name that was more reflective of our membership as a whole and will allow us to grow and expand into new areas.”
The name Ascent was chosen because it represents what the CU aims to do: help others climb toward financial success, van der Have added.
Along with the rebrand, the credit union also plans to unveil a variety of new product offerings, including a focus on serving commercial members with business loans, equipment loans and lines of credit.
“Expanding into different communities brings with it a whole new business demographic, and we’re ready to help in as many ways as we can,” Chief Lending Officer John Cole said in the release.
