ENDICOTT, N.Y. – Employees and members of Visions FCU were mourning the death of Jack Houseknecht, the credit union’s well-known chief operating officer, who died of heart attack he suffered in the parking lot at work last Tuesday, at 56.
“Employees found him and tried to revive him while the EMTs were on the way,” said Frank Berrish, president of the $3 billion credit union. “It was pretty shocking.”
The incident happened as Houseknecht was preparing for an operation to clear a blockage in his arteries, Berrish told the Credit Union Journal Friday.
Houseknecht, a regular figure at credit union conferences, worked at Visions the past seven years and prior to that was CEO at Baltimore’s SSA FCU and a senior loan officer at Andrews FCU.
Houseknecht was the 2002 Maryland League Professional of the Year and a candidate for the NCUA Board.
