Law enforcement officials were wondering this week just whom to give the $20,000 reward promised by the FBI for information leading to the Fishing Hat Bandit. Robbery rewards are usually awarded to outside tipsters who call in the identity or locations of robbery suspects.
But the obvious choice is Real Financial CU Manager Dean Wickstrom, who chased down the robber after he fled his credit union last Friday morning and tracked him down, before calling police to let them know where to find Minnesota's most prolific bank robber. Wickstrom said he never even considered the reward when he took off in a foot chase after the thief.
