Wheat Disappears From NCUA

- ALEXANDRIA, Va.(09/17/01) - NCUA Board member Yolanda Wheat has moved toKansas City with her family, where she continues to conduct agencybusiness via telephone and e-mail, sources at the agency told TheCredit Union Journal. "I haven't seen her since the July Boardmeeting," said one high-ranking NCUA official who works with Wheaton a regular basis. Wheat's six-year term on the NCUA Board expiredlast month but Wheat continues to serve as a holdover until asuccessor is confirmed to her seat on the three-person panel. Aspokesperson in Wheat's office said Wheat continues to maintain aresidence near NCUA, as well as in Kansas City. Wheat could not bereached for comment. But sources told The Credit Union Journal thatWheat and her husband, former U.S. Rep. Alan Wheat, D-Mo., havemoved back to Kansas City, where they have enrolled their childrenin school. Wheat participated in last week's NCUA Board meetingfrom Kansas City by telephone.
