SANTIAGO–In a way, this trip to Peru and Chile has been something of a walk down memory lane for the women who are there representing the U.S. credit union movement.
“Credit unions here are the way credit unions were in the U.S. back when it really still was a movement,” said Susan Albrecht, SVP of CUNA Mutual Group’s International Division.
And contrary to most history lessons that are aimed at ensuring they won’t repeat themselves, the lesson Albrecht is taking away from her participation in the World Council of Credit Union’s Peru-Chile Women’s Leadership Credit Union Engagement Program is that she hopes history can and will repeat itself in the U.S. credit union movement.
