With CEO’s retirement looming, A+ FCU settles on a successor

The board of directors at Austin, Texas-based A+ Federal Credit Union has named Eric R. Kase as its next president and CEO.

Kase, who most recently served as chief operating officer of Landmark CU in New Berlin, Wis., succeeds Kerry A.S. Parker, who is retiring in June after 20 years at the helm of the $1.5 billion-asset institution. He will step into the position on July 1, according to a press release. Parker announced her retirement in January.

Along with his six years at Landmark, Kase has more than 25 years of experience in the financial services industry, having worked in areas such as member services, retail operations, risk management and strategic planning.

“The board of directors conducted an extensive national search and selected Eric to be the next leader of A+ Federal Credit Union,” A+ Board Chair Dr. Lolly Guerra said in a press release. “Eric’s passion for the membership and experience aligned with the board, and we trust that our employees and members will be just as excited to welcome him to the A+ Federal Credit Union family.”

The incoming chief said he is eager to join the team in Texas.

“I look forward to building on the many successes that A+FCU has experienced under Kerry’s phenomenal leadership,” said Kase.

Among the highlights of Parker’s tenure at the credit union was a rebrand from Austin Teachers FCU to A+, reaching $1 billion in loans and pioneering a city-wide network of surcharge-free ATMs for more than a dozen CUs.

In March, Parker participated in the Credit Union Summit at the 2019 Retail Banking conference in Austin.

According to NCUA call report data, A+ FCU earned nearly $4.5 million during the first quarter of 2019, down about 4% from a year earlier.
