Super Typhoon Haiyan reportedly has killed as many as 10,000 people and the situation is expected to only grow worse for survivors as conditions, including food and sanitation, degrade in affected areas. An estimated 9.5 million people have been affected by the typhoon, including about 620,000 displaced from their homes, according to the United Nations.

WOCCU said there are 1,320 credit unions in the Philippines with 4.3 million members.

The Worldwide Foundation for Credit Unions is now accepting donations to a disaster relief fund. Checks can be sent to Worldwide Foundation for Credit Unions, Inc., 5710 Mineral Point Rd., Madison, WI 53705. Donations can also be made online with a credit card.
