DAYTON—A member of Universal One Credit Union here was struck by his fiancé as she drove a large SUV in the credit union’s parking lot here.
Police are investigating whether the act was intentional. According to police, the man, whose name was not released, had exited his 2004 GMC Yukon near an ATM that is located in a brick structure separate from Universal One’s main office. As he was walking toward the credit union’s rear entrance, his fiancé got behind the wheel of the SUV, drove approximately 40 yards, and struck the man and also caused severe damage to the brick structure housing the ATM.
A police spokesperson said the female driver had a learner’s permit to drive, and that marks on the pavement indicate she was accelerating at the time of the incident. The man was taken to a local hospital with one report indicating he had no feeling in his legs. The woman was arrested.
