Fed Takes Message To The Movies
WASHINGTON-Your eyes weren't deceiving you if you thought you saw government-sponsored advice advertisements when taking in a movie at the start of the Christmas shopping season. The Federal Reserve sponsored ads that ran before movie previews in 12 theatres in a dozen cities. The ads dispensed simple tips like paying credit cards on time and paying more than the minimum. Advancial Earns Top Employer Accolades
DALLAS-The Dallas Morning News named Advancial as one of the top 100 places to work. Advancial was ranked 20th overall in the top midsize companies' category and slotted 15th out of 46 midsized companies in the "conditions" category. The newspaper's rankings were based on an employee opinions surveys in seven different categories such as pay and benefits, company direction and quality of management.
UNFCU's Toochin Named Director Of Year
PALM DESERT, Calif.-Joseph E. Toochin, vice chairman of United Nations FCU (UNFCU) in Long Island City, N.Y., has been named the 2009 Director of the Year by the Credit Union Executives Society. The award was presented during CUES' Directors Conference here. Toochin is a 14-year veteran of the CU movement. While at UNFCU, assets have increased to $3 billion from $636 million, membership has grown to 84,000 from 26,000 and the credit union has expanded into Africa and Europe. Toochin was also recognized for efforts within the community and for support of small CUs.
Compliance Mtg. Draws Record Attendance
MERIDEN, Conn.-A recent regulatory and compliance workshop saw a record number of attendees for a Credit Union League of Connecticut event. More than 120 people from 70 different CUs attended to hear news updates, analyses and trends from top state and federal officials. State banking commissioner Howard Pitkin and comptroller Nancy Wyman were among the features speakers, as well as NCUA Examiner Rett Mancinelli.
