Ohio CUL Launches MoneyAndStuff
COLUMBUS, Ohio–In response to a new state law calling for financial education in all public high schools by 2010, the Ohio Credit Union League has launched MoneyAndStuff to help educators meet the state’s requirement and to arm parents with tools to teach money matters at home.
Web Seminar Explores Online Fraud
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.–The Credit Union Journal and Guardian Analytics will host a free web seminar this week on “The Online Channel: Combating Multi-Channel Fraud At The Source.” The one-hour seminar, which is free, will feature Star One CU and how it has been able to deploy advanced online fraud detection.
Participants will also learn how to reveal truly suspicious online fraud activity, recognize fraudsters at work, correlate offline and online fraud, coordinate anti-fraud efforts to focus on the real cases, and more. The web seminar is scheduled for May 8 at 2 p.m. EST.

Local Government FCU Forms CUSO
RALEIGH, N.C.–Local Government Federal Credit Union has formed a CUSO to work directly with local government units across the state. LGFCU Financial Partners LLC’s first order of business: promote the commercial lending division. The credit union said the CUSO will allow it to go beyond lending to a volunteer non-profit organizations such as volunteer fire departments, which have yielded business loans for everything from fire trucks to new gear and equipment.
