Funds Flow To Flood Victims
HARRISBURG, Pa.-The Pennsylvania Credit Union Association and the Pennsylvania Credit Union Foundation have committed $150,000 to the state's flood victims--specifically credit union employees and members. The National Credit Union Foundation's (NCUF) CUAid program also will contribute an undetermined amount of funds to flood victims, the PCUA reported. The state foundation has received nearly 250 grants from employees and members of more than 35 Pennsylvania credit unions. The Pennsylvania foundation approved 40 grants of $1,500 each for a total of $60,000, with more grants in the pipeline.
Dave Ramsey Promotes CU
ORANGE COUNTY, Calif.-Best-selling author and national radio talk show host Dave Ramsey has signed on to promote the $190-million Eagle Community CU on the radio. ECCU said getting Ramsey's endorsement wasn't easy: his team, working with CBS radio, visited multiple Eagle branch locations to make sure the service standards met his own, and did their due diligence to make sure the credit union was a worthy brand partner.
Dupaco Named Top Employer
DUBUQUE, Iowa-Dupaco Community CU has been named one of the top five mid-size employers in the state of Iowa by the Des Moines Register. The rankings were a result of a free and voluntary employee survey conducted by the newspaper.
AKCU Now Fieldstone CU
BRADLEY, Ill.-Armour Kankakee Credit Union has changed its name to Fieldstone Credit Union.
Number Of CUs In Mergers
MEMPHIS--First South Financial Credit Union is absorbing the 3,300-member Dyersburg Credit Union via merger. In Beloit, Wis., First Community Credit Union is absorbing Rock County Employees CU in Janesville. The merger will boost FCCU's assets to almost $80 million. In Delaware, meanwhile, the $332-million Dover FCU is absorbing via merger the $266,000 Peninsula Methodist FCU, which has just 171 members.
Cheney Named To Top Lobbyist List
WASHINGTON--The Hill newspaper, which focuses on coverage of Capitol Hill, has named CUNA President/CEO Bill Cheney as one of 64 top lobbyists in Washington. The recognition, said Cheney, "is a reflection of the significant efforts that CUNA, the leagues and credit unions put forth on behalf of the entire movement over the past year."
Polish CU Leader To Parliament
SOPOT, Poland-Grzegorz Bierecki, president and CEO of the National Association of Cooperative Savings & Credit Unions (NACSCU), Poland's credit union trade association and a member of World Council of Credit Unions (WOCCU), has been elected to Poland's Parliament. Bierecki, who also serves as WOCCU first vice chair, was elected as a Law and Justice Party senator representing Biaà âa Podlaska, a town located in eastern Poland. It is Bierecki's first election to public office. He will continue to hold his offices with both the association and WOCCU.
Call For Marketing Entries
ARLINGTON, Va.-NAFCU is calling for entries for its 2012 Marketing Awards Program. Saying it was seeking to make entry as easy as possible, the entire awards program is now online with a streamlined submission process, NAFCU said.

White Paper On Automation
MADISON, Wis.-The CUNA Technology Council has released a new white paper, "Automating the Enterprise: IT Operations and the Data Center-The Last Frontier of Enterprise Automation."
The paper is based on information and experiences gathered from data center managers, operations managers and chief information officers/chief technology officers from around the world, including many from the credit union industry.

Albert Named CEO At PFFCU
ALLENTOWN, Penn. - The $375-million People First FCU has named Jeffrey Albert as its new CEO. Mr. Albert was previously SVP/CFO. Albert will succeed Fran Muto, who retired in June after 37 years at the credit union. Muto died recently. Albert began his career with People First in 1990.
