NCUA Updates Two Websites

ALEXANDRIA, Va.-NCUA has debuted a new look for its free consumer websites and a video from Board Chairman Debbie Matz about the value of saving. The newly designed websites-MyCreditUnion.gov and the financial literacy microsite Pocket Cents-are more user-friendly and provide consumers with access to more information, according to the agency.

PCFCU Sponsoring NASCAR Driver

LOUISVILLE, Ky.-Park Community FCU has signed on as a sponsor for 16-year-old NASCAR driver Ben Rhodes. Rhodes' car will bear the PCFCU logo at all events in which he races during the 2013-14 season. Terms of the sponsorship were not released.

3 CUs Are Named Top Workplaces

LAS VEGAS-One Nevada Credit Union has been selected to The Las Vegas Review-Journal's Top Workplaces. The distinction is based on employee feedback to a survey by Workplace Dynamics. Among the employee programs for which One Nevada was recognized were a choice of three medical plans, tuition reimbursement, paid time off, discretionary profit sharing, and programs to help with day care and elder care. In Ewing, N.J., Credit Union of New Jersey has been named one of the Best Places to Work in New Jersey by NJBiz. Credit Union ONE Marking 75th

FERNDALE, Mich.-Credit Union ONE is celebrating its 75th anniversary, beginning with the flying of anniversary flags at its branches. Other promotions and celebrations are to follow this year. Credit Union ONE was founded in 1938 as Ferndale Co-Op CU in a church basement by 15 people who pooled $158.

Iowa CUL, Filene In Partnership

DES MOINES, Iowa-The Iowa Credit Union League (ICUL) has entered into a collaboration with the Filene Research Institute to develop an innovation group exclusively for Iowa credit unions. The Iowa Innovation Group will assemble innovative, insightful and energetic credit union professionals with substantial responsibility, Filene said. The ICUL is now seeking 15 "innovators" to be a part of the effort, which is modeled on Filene's i3 Group.

Postal CU Returns 20% Of Earnings

WOODBURY, Minn.-Postal Credit Union (PCU) is returning nearly 20% of its entire 2012 earnings to members through its VIP Program, which it believes to be the first of its kind in the state. The VIP Program is rewarding more than 15,000 PCU members with cash dividends of between $5 and $800 in automatic deposits in their accounts. More than $535,000 is being returned overall.The payout was calculated based upon several factors for both depositors and borrowers.

McGlaughlin Named CEO at PBCU

HUNT VALLEY, Md-Point Breeze Credit Union has named Bernard McLaughlin as its new CEO. McGlaughlin was previously CEO at Members First CU in Manchester, N.H., and succeeds Paul Torbeck, who retired. The $725-mnillion Point Breeze has 48,000 members.

Four More Credit Unions In Mergers

GROTON, Conn.-Charter Oak FCU has filed an application with regulators to absorb the $1.5-million, 611-member Quiet Corner Community CU via merger. Meanwhile, in Plymouth, Minn., $847-million TruStone Financial FCU is reaching into Wisconsin to absorb via merger $13-million Ladish Community CU in Cudahy.

Berrish, Connery To Hall of Leaders

ALBANY, N.Y.-Frank Berrish, CEO of Visions FCU, and Michael Connery, CEO of United Nations FCU, have been named to the Credit Union House Hall of Leaders. Berrish was recognized for his 35 years of leading Visions FCU and his work in the state and national credit union communities, in addition to overseeing growth to $3 billion from $25 million. Connery was recognized for overseeing growth to $4 billion from $233 million, and for his work at both the community and national levels.
