More Changes In CEOs' Offices
MONTPELIER, Vt.-EnDSteve Post, CEO of $610 million Vermont State Employees CU, is retiring. Post joined VSECU in 1990 and oversaw growth from $80 million in assets. In Springfield, Ill., Ed Gvazdinskas, CEO at the $230 million Heartland CU for the past 38 years, will retire in February 2014. COO Tom Lex has been named to succeed Gvazdinskas. In Waipahu, Hawaii, Pearl Harbor FCU named Neal Takase as its new CEO. Takase was formerly VP-operations. In Suitland, Md., Jim Hayes has been named CEO of the $900 million Andrews FCU. Hayes had been serving as interim CEO.

Metsger Confirmed For NCUA Board
WASHINGTON-The Senate has confirmed former Oregon Sen. Richard Metsger to the NCUA Board, bringing the panel back to its full complement of three members. Though board member Michael Fryzel's term has expired, he told Credit Union Journal that he will continue to serve until a successor is chosen.

IDAHO FALLS, Idaho-Mountain America CU will expand its presence in Idaho with a deal for $16 million A+ CU, one of three privately insured Idaho CUs approved to be merged into federally insured CUs, NCUA said. Also approved: $6 million Simco CU into Connections CU, and $3 million Cassia County Educators CU into Idaho State University FCU.
Other mergers announced: CNG FCU, East Hartford, Conn., into Hartford Municipal EFCU; NWS Yorktown FCU, Virginia, into 1st Advantage FCU, Newport News, Va.; Thornton Township School FCU, South Holland, Ill., into Great Lakes CU, Chicago; Saks Fifth Avenue Enterprises FCU, New York into L'Oreal USA FCU; Uncle Sam FCU in Troy, N.Y. into Albany Firemens FCU; Runnells Hospital Employees FCU in New Jersey into Affinity FCU; Lithuanian FCU in Los Angeles into Clearpath FCU; Public Service CU in Kewaunee, Wis., into Community First CU; Toledo Bend Teachers FCU in Hemphill, Texas, into Doches CU; and ARC Credit Union into Christian Financial CU.
Original Members On Hand For 50th
MILWAUKEE, Ore.-Providence FCU marked its 50th Annual Meeting with six special guests: members who joined the CU when it opened 50 years ago. "We wanted to recognize, honor and show our deep appreciation because we wouldn't be as strong as we are now without their loyal support," said CEO Shirley Cate. Howard Harris had been with the CU the longest, joining in 1963. Also on hand were Gloria Hall (after being told 100 people were needed to start a CU); and Sharon Vachal (who would serve on the board for 30 years).
