Islamic Finance Manual Published
MADISON, Wis.-The World Council of Credit Unions has published what it believes to be the first-ever known guide to establishing Shariah-compliant credit unions. The "Islamic Finance Manual: Operating Policies and Procedures for Credit Unions" is based on WOCCU's experience in establishing Islamic investment and finance cooperatives in Afghanistan from 2004-2012. ICUL Names Young Advisors
NAPERVILLE, Ill.-The Illinois CU League has created a Young Professionals Advisory Committee to help create a state-wide program which encourages young employees to establish life-long involvement with credit unions. Members include Jana Stevens of CEFCU, Wednesday Medlen of Community Plus FCU, Scott Leiser of Cornerstone CU, Derrell Walls of CTAFC FCU, Diara Bradley of First Financial CU, Parease Alexander of Maroon Financial CU, Melissa Clopper of Members First Community CU, Aaron Heldt of NuMark Credit Union and Jennifer Riebold of Scott CU.
Separately, the ICUL has been honored by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation and Illinois Department on Aging for its support of legislation protecting elderly members from financial abuse.

Buffalo Service Has New Logo
BUFFALO-Buffalo Service Credit Union has redesigned its logo to include a soaring eagle it said represents the future for the CU. The logo was designed by Manzella Marketing Group and incorporates components from the previous logo and honors the original FOM of military and federal employees.
CU League of Conn. Teams With ARC
MERIDEN, Conn.-The Credit Union League of Connecticut has partnered with The Arc Connecticut, an advocacy organization for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, to create an internship program called Workability, offering Connecticut CUs the opportunity to obtain a high school intern living with disabilities to work at the credit union for 10 weeks this Fall. The program is based on an existing program at Hartford Healthcare FCU, designed by CEO Carol Bayreuther.

NYIB Announces Election Results
SAN DIEGO-The National Youth Involvement Board has confirmed four new regional coordinators and re-elected its chairman, Julie McLean, director of financial education for Arapahoe CU in Centennial, Colo. Regional coordinators elected to two year terms were Shannon Cahoon of Fibre FCU in Longview, Wash.; Ashley Buchholz of Wildfire CU in Saginaw, Mich.; Leah Esslinger-Sprowl of Holy Rosary Credit Union in Rochester, N.H., and Mandy Clayton of FivePoint CU in Nederland, Texas.

ROANOKE, Va.-Blue Eagle FCU, a $115 million credit union formerly known as Roanoke Postal Employees FCU, has agreed to merge into Southwestern Telco FCU, a struggling $7 million Roanoke credit union.
