NCUF Awards $35,000 Grant To NFCDCU
NEW YORK-A $35,000 Innovation Grant from the National Credit Union Foundation (NCUF) to the National Federation of Community Development Credit Unions will enable at least 100 CDCU board members and management staff to attend CDCU Institute training workshops this year. Designed by the NFCDCU in partnership with CUNA's Center for Professional Development, the Institute provides a customized forum where CDCUs "acquire professional skills needed to increase membership, expand products and services, and strengthen net worth. The NCUF has approved a total of $370,000 in grants for the CDCU Institute during the past four years. Also planned for 2009 is a new module on Individual Development Accounts.

Members United Establishes Foundation
WARRENVILLE, Ill.-Members United Corporate FCU has established The Central Credit Union Fund Foundation to fund initiatives that support the theme of "people helping people" and to help credit unions improve consumers' financial well-being. The $10.3-billion corporate is providing the foundation with $50,000 in its first year for operating costs/grants and $200,000 to establish an endowment.
UT FCU Adds VW Beetle to Marketing Mix
KNOXVILLE, Tenn.-UT FCU's newest billboard has sprouted wheels. The CU has turned an orange and white checkered Volkswagen Beetle into a traveling billboard.
The car has been featured during University of Tennessee's homecoming parade and will also be in several community holiday parades in Knoxville, Powell, Fountain City and others.
FinancialEdge Promotes COO To CEO
BAY CITY, Mich.-FinancialEdge Community CU said it has promoted Jeremy Coberly, its vice president for operations, as its new president and CEO.
Coberly has been a member of senior management of the $55 million credit union since 2002, responsible for the oversight of branch operations, product development and strategic growth initiatives.
He has worked with credit unions for 10 years.
CUES Honors Dames, McLean At CEO Network
LAS VEGAS-The Credit Union Executives Society tapped Gordon Dames as its 2008 Outstanding Executive and Deborah McLean as its 2008 Future Leader.
Dames is CEO of Mountain America CU, West Jordan, Utah. McLean is VP of marketing and business development at Carolina Postal CU, Charlotte, N.C.
Recipients of CUES Outstanding Executive are awarded based on performance excellence for credit union achievements, innovation and recognition while demonstrating volunteer service and a continued commitment to education.
CUES Future Leader recognizes non-CEO credit union executives for superior dedication to their credit union, the movement and continuing education.
