ESFCU Celebrates Hitting $300-Million Mark

GREENBELT, Md.-Educational Systems FCU celebrated hitting the $300 million in assets mark at its 53rd annual meeting in late April. "We are proud that our members have expressed their confidence in the credit union's strong financial performance, and we will continue to be a safe haven for their deposits," the CU's CEO told the audience.

DE Workshop Returns To CU Roots

ESTES PARK, Colo.-CU Development Educators made a pilgrimage to the site where CUNA was formed 75 years ago as part of a four-day DE workshop.

Workshop presenters included Pat Sterner, JFB & Associates; George Hofheimer, the Filene Institute; Dennis Paul, Elevations Credit Union; and, Mary Roosevelt, Thistle Community Housing. The group also participated in a service project at two of the Thistle-owned apartment complexes; pruning trees, pulling weeds and clearing rubbish.

'Bank vs. Credit Union' Video Wins Contest

WICHITA, Kan.-An aspiring film director and member of Credit Union of America here is now $5,000 richer after his video won the state league's contest. Matt Elwood and Josh Ellis won the grand prize for their "Bank vs. Credit Union" rap battle video that demonstrated the CU difference. The Kansas CU Association was hoping the contest would garner 4,000 site impressions, but that goal was blown away as the 17 entries attracted more than 25,000 unique visitors. The league said this contest will become the "blueprint for Kansas credit unions to reach Generation Y."
