Wambach Honored By Pennsylvania
HARRISBURG, Penn.-The Pennsylvania House of Representatives unanimously adopted a Resolution, H.R. 342, honoring "Mr. Pennsylvania," Peter C. Wambach, Sr., father of Joe Wambach, executive director of the Pennsylvania Credit Union Foundation.
The resolution recognized his contributions to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and its citizens. Wambach was a speechwriter to Govs. George M. Leader and David L. Lawrence, in addition to Lt. Gov. John Morgan Davis.
Wambach's radio show, "This is Pennsylvania," which was heard on more than 100 stations for more than 17 years was also cited.
Wambach passed away on May 17 at the age of 90.
During the Pennsylvania Credit Union Foundation's annual breakfast last month in Hershey, State Rep. Curtis Thomas of Philadelphia honored Pete Wambach, Sr., by making the first donation to the Peter C. Wambach Memorial scholarship fund.
Toyota FCU, Western FCU To Merge
MANHATTAN BEACH, Calif.-Toyota Federal Credit Union (TFCU) has entered into an agreement to merge with Western Federal Credit Union.
Southern California-based TFCU has $250 million in total assets and serves over 19,000 members through its branch network, which includes locations in four states. TCFU joins Western, which has $1.2 billion in total assets and more than 120,000 members nationwide with branches in seven states.
Western is the result of what is believed to be the industry's largest merger of equals between Western Federal Credit Union and TRW Systems Federal Credit Union in 2003.
It is anticipated that the merger will be complete by year-end 2007.
NCUA To Hold Town Hall Meeting
DENVER-Registration has opened for an NCUA Outreach Task Force "Town Hall" meeting to be hosted by Board Member Gigi Hyland on Aug. 15. "The Task Force has yet to make any decisions regarding the issues under consideration, so the discussions held during these meetings are essential to the deliberations of the Task Force," Hyland said.

Mo. CU Commission Appoints 2
ST. LOUIS-Missouri Gov. Matt Blunt has appointed Charlie Waalkes of American Eagle CU in St. Louis and Hal James of Missouri CU in Columbia to the Missouri Credit Union Commission. It will be Waalkes' first term (replacing retiring Bill Humpfer), and James' second. Earlier, Cathy Stroud of Community Financial CU in Springfield was reappointed to the commission.
