Steil Out As Maryland CUL CEO
COLUMBIA, Md.-Saying it is seeking a different direction for the league, the Maryland Credit Union League board chose not to renew the contract of its president, Robert Steil, effective April 11. Steil has been with the league for 25 years. Michael Marschall, executive VP and director of government affairs will serve temporarily as the acting CEO.
Shaughnessy Named CUANJ CEO
HIGHTSTOWN, N.J.-The Credit Union Affiliates of New Jersey (CUANJ) board officially named Thomas Shaughnessy president and CEO of the league. Shaughnessy, who has been serving as interim president since the ouster of Russell Clark earlier this year, joined CUANJ in January of 2002 as the Chief Operating Officer for Professional Services Group & Credit Union League Allied Services, the two for-profit service organizations of CUANJ.
"The board is pleased with the changes that Tom has instituted while serving as interim president," said CUANJ Chairman John DiNofrio.
CUES Introduces Online Training
MADISON, Wis.-The Credit Union Executives Society (CUES) has introduced a new service: CUES OnSite: Credit Union Training Network, which matches credit unions with educators whose expertise meets the organization's specific training needs. "All training sessions are conducted at the credit union, and are offered by industry experts who have received high ratings when presenting at CUES' institutes, conferences, and seminars," CUES said. Hampton Named Johnson's EA
ALEXANDRIA, Va.-NCUA said Vice Chair JoAnn Johnson has appointed Maura Hampton, former CUNA lobbyist, to be her executive assistant. Hampton will replace Julie Starnes, who is leaving to return to her native Iowa. Hampton worked for CUNA between 1997 and 2001, and also as a staffer for Rep. Frank Lucas (R-OK).
