Registrations Open For DE
MADISON, Wis.-Applications are now being accepted for participants in the National Credit Union Development Education (DE) program, hosted by the National CU Foundation. The program is scheduled for June 3-8 in Madison, Wis., and explores the social mission and uniqueness of credit unions. Ohio League Joins FinCen
DUBLIN, Ohio-The Ohio Credit Union League is joining with the Ohio Bankers League and Ohio Attorney General Jim Petro to participate in the multi-state FinCrime Network, an Internet-based alert and database system that helps financial institutions and law enforcement agencies share information, prevent financial crimes and catch criminals. "Credit unions in Ohio have now joined banks, the Attorney General's office and law enforcement in a system that helps prevent identity theft and similar crimes by sharing important information about specific crimes and criminals," said OCUL President Paul Mercer. FinCrime is sponsored by the state bankers associations in 11 states, with more expected to join.
Ventura To Venture To NY
LATHAM, N.Y.-Former Minnesota Gov. Jesse Ventura will speak to the New York State Credit Union League's 84th Annual Meeting and Convention, scheduled for June 15-19, at the Prime Hotel in Saratoga Springs, NY. "We feel our credit unions will relate to Gov. Ventura's grassroots approach to his gubernatorial campaign," according to League President/CEO William J. Mellin. "
NJCUL Selects Legislator of Year
HIGHTSTOWN, N.J.-The New Jersey Credit Union League has selected U.S. Rep. E. Scott Garrett (R-5th District) as its first-ever recipient of the Congressional Legislator of the Year Award.
The newly created award was presented for Garrett's dedication to the credit union movement in New Jersey.
A reception is planned in Garrett's honor to present him the award in Washington, D.C
