DeSarno Named IG At NCUA

ALEXANDRIA, Va.-NCUA has named William DeSarno as its new Inspector General. DeSarno has been serving as acting inspector general since December 2004. "Bill DeSarno is a dedicated, veteran federal government employee who has served with integrity, and I am pleased to welcome him as NCUA's new Inspector General," said NCUA Chairman JoAnn Johnson.

Hanley Elected To CFA Board

SANTA ANA, Calif.-Rudy Hanley, CEO of Orange County Teachers FCU, has been elected to the board of the Consumer Federation of America. Hanley was elected to a three-year term on the 40-member board at the CFA's recent annual meeting March 12. He joins five other credit union leaders on the CFA board.

CU Pioneer Joe Incorvaia Dies

WHITTIER, Calif.-Joe Incorvaia, 85, the former CEO of what is now Credit Union of Southern California and a credit union pioneer, has died. Mr. Incorvaia took over the Assistant Treasurer/Manager position of the Whittier Area Schools FCU in the 1950s when it was less than $100,000 in assets. While teaching full time at Whittier High School, Joe and his wife, Nellie, ran the credit union from their home for several years. Mr. Incorvaia eventually retired from teaching to work full-time at WASFCU alongside his wife, who was assistant manager. When they retired from the credit union in 1983, it had $50 million in assets. During his career he was active in CUES and local chapters. Mr. and Mrs. Incorvaia's daughter, Robin Lentz, is the CEO of Carbrillo CU in San Diego.

Chartway Expands Into N.C.

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va.-For the first time in its history, the $1-billion Chartway FCU here has expanded across state lines into North Carolina. The credit union has opened a new office inside a Farm Fresh Store in Elizabeth City.
