NAFCU Set To Host Caucus

WASHINGTON-NAFCU will host its annual Congressional Caucus here this week. On tap at the Grand Hyatt Hotel will be keynoter and conservative columnist Tony Blankley, NCUA Chairman JoAnn Johnson, Fannie Mae CEO Dan Mudd, Treasury Secretary John Snow, House Financial Services Committee Chairman Mike Oxley, and other members of Congess. The Credit Union Journal will provide full coverage.

Texas League Honors Trio

SAN ANTONIO, Texas-The Texas league has recognized three credit union leaders in the state. Gary Parker, CEO of 1st University CU in Waco, received the Small Credit Union Achiever's Award. Parker, who is also the former chair of the Texas Credit Union Awards & Recognition Committee, is the first-ever recipient of the award. Jeff Farver, CEO of San Antonio FCU in San Antonio, was presented with the Professional of the Year Award and described as a "champion of the movement." And Jim Ragan, board member of JSC FCU in Houston, was given the Volunteer of the Year Award, for his more than 28 years with the CU.

New $10 Bill Unveiling This Week

WASHINGTON-The Department of the Treasury, Federal Reserve and U.S. Secret Service will unveil a new design and updated security features for the $10 note that will enter circulation in early 2006. The unveiling will take place Sept. 28 at Ellis Island in New York Harbor.

PTCU Set To Become OnPoint

PORTLAND, Ore.-The $2-billion Portland Teachers Credit Union will change its name effective Jan. 1, 2006 to OnPoint Community Credit Union.
