CFO Council Offers Scholarships

ADISON, Wis.-The CUNA Chief Financial Officers (CFO) Council is seeking applicants for the second year of its scholarship program. Scholarships can be applied to fees and costs for select schools and conferences offered by CUNA or for CFO Council membership. Those eligible for the scholarship include CU employees with responsibilities similar to those of a CFO, regardless of their actual title. Other eligibility requirements: credit unions must demonstrate a financial need (as determined by selection committee); recipient must be a full-time CU employee; maximum scholarship per year cannot exceed $2,500 per CU, and it must be from an affiliated CU.

Race Will Have Special Guest

WASHINGTON-The March 31st Credit Union Cherry Blossom 10-Mile Run pre-race Gala will feature a very special guest this year: 11-year old Christopher Young of Mechanicsville, Md. Christopher has been chosen to represent the nation's capital as the 2006 Washington, D.C. Champion as part of the Children's Miracle Network "Champions Across America" program. Christopher was diagnosed at birth with spina bifida. He has undergone 17 surgeries.

Ripken To Speak To NY Meeting

LATHAM, N.Y.-Cal Ripken, Jr., the "Iron Man" baseball star of the Baltimore Orioles, will provide the keynote address, "The Keys to Perseverance," at the New York State Credit Union League's annual meeting May 15-18 in Saratoga Springs, NY. Ripken is best known for playing 2,632 consecutive games.
