NASCUS Hosts Regional Meetings
CHICAGO–NASCUS held the latest in its state regulator regional meeting series here. NASCUS Chair George Reynolds met with state regulators from Illinois, Kansas, Michigan and Wisconsin to discuss examination, supervision, regulatory and legislative issues affecting state agencies. The Illinois Department of Financial Institutions co-hosted the meeting at its offices. NASCUS will host its State System Summit in Seattle Aug. 21-23.
CUEG Adds 2 New Members
WASHINGTON–The Credit Union Economics Group (CUEG) has added two new members: Terrin Griffiths, economist and industry analyst for the California/Nevada CU Leagues, and Samuel Inman, CFO with Community First CU of Florida.
CUEG is a working group of credit union officials located throughout the country who are dedicated to the current and future financial well being of the credit union movement.

Sharp Wins Honorary Doctorate
SAN BERNARDINO– Larry Sharp, CEO of Arrowhead CU, has received an honorary doctorate of humane letters degree from Cal State San Bernardino.
The university said Sharp was being recognized for his work as a businessman and his contributions to the community.
Sun CU Hosts Mad City Money
MAUMEE, Ohio.–Sun FCU hosted Mad City Money, a simulation for high school students that teaches basic money management, for eight of its teen members.
The two-hour simulation is designed to provide a taste of the real world, including occupation, salary, spouse, student loan debt, credit card debt, and medical insurance payments. In addition to several other merchants, the credit union helped with financial services including writing checks, recording transactions and budgeting. Sun Federal also hosted three Midwest Community FCU employees who took part in the simulation.
CCCU Helps ‘Launch A Village’
SAN DIMAS, Calif.–Christian Community CU has pledged $232,500 to support the work of global consultant Mike Mann and missionary Becky Mann, who work with the Integrated Tribal Development Program in Northern Thailand. Called the “Launch a Village” project, the donation will fund water and sanitation, construction of a school and health clinic, and provide a source for micro enterprise loans for three hill-tribe villages.
