RACINE, Wis. - (12/08/04) -- A man who was allegedly preparing torob Horizon CU was charged with the brutal slaying of a mother andher teenage daughter after he fled from the credit union. WendellMcPherson, 26, is accused of fleeing from police who interruptedhis planned credit union robbery, then hiding out in the home ofNancy Mason, 40, and Meghan Mason, 19, before killing the twowomen. One of Mason's five other children found the women, boundwith duct tape and shot in the head. Police said McPherson and anaccomplice, Jamal Martin, were staking out the credit union on Oct.11 when a police officer showed up to check out a report of asuspicious vehicle. Martin fled on foot and McPherson drove offinto a nearby neighborhood, before running into the Masonhome.
