MADISON HEIGHTS, Mich. – Three masked men were chased through the nearby woods and arrested after their attempt to rob a Family Services CU branch was foiled yesterday morning.
The robbery went bad after the mother of a credit union employee who had just dropped her daughter off at work around 8:15 a.m. watched from her car as two men wearing Halloween masks forced her daughter inside the back door of the branch, according to police. The mom immediately called 911, police said.
The robbers demanded that the employee open the vault, but her try failed and the would-be robbers fled on foot into the nearby woods. The chase prompted authorities to lock down all nearby schools.
The city’s police dog tracked the suspects, police arrested them and recovered two handguns from the woods, according to police. They arrested three men.
