FAIRBORN, Ohio – Five families are participating in an eight-month contest to see which one can best improve their spending and savings habits and work towards family goals of boosting savings, reducing debt and increasing net worth, as part of Wright-Patt CU’s Savings Race.
The winning family will receive $10,000 and the runner-up families will each get $2,000.
As part of the contest, each family will detail its daily spending and meet with a team of coaches every week.
Officials with the $1.3 billion credit union said the goal is to help the families build financial skills to carry them through life.
In conjunction with the contest, which will end in May, the credit union is offering a series of financial classes called "Savings Race Pit Stops," which are open to the public.
