MECHANICSBURG, Penn. - AmeriChoice FCU here is helping to underwrite the cost of transporting local World War II veterans, along with students at a local middle school, to Washington for tours and ceremonies at the World War II Memorial.
Called the Honor Bus and inspired by the Honor Flights Network that flew 137 veterans to Washington, the chartered coaches will take the veterans and students at Mechanicsburg Middle School to share in the experience together.
The trip will include a welcome from Rep. Todd Platts and former Sen. Bob Dole, a World War II veteran. The group will attend a wreath ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknowns and a celebration dinner at the Naval Officers Club.
All AmeriChoice branches are collecting donations to send every South Central Pennsyvania WWII veteran on the Honor Bus.
