Wyoming CUL Meeting Touts 1-In-3 Status

More than 60 professionals and volunteers from 17 credit unions turned out for the 48th Annual Meeting and Convention of the Wyoming Credit Union League in Rock Springs, Wyoming.

The meeting was themed "1 in 3: The Power of Unity" to represent that in Wyoming one-in-three citizens are members of credit unions. Approximately 185,000 Wyoming citizens belong to CUs.

"The mission and goal of the league, as demonstrated by this convention, is to support and serve Wyoming's 33 credit unions by promoting a positive public image, advancing legislative interests, improving competitiveness through education, and strengthening operations and financial soundness," said the league.

During the meeting, the following were elected to board positions: Larry Knopp, CEO of UniWyo FCU, chairman; Kathi Palinek, CEO of Wyochem FCU, vice chairman; Marsha Tynsky, CEO of Trona Valley FCU, secretary; Stephanie Teubner, CEO of Warren FCU, treasurer; Vickie Nelson, CEO of Burlington Co-op FCU, past chairman; Matt Johnson, CEO of NPRD FCU, and Clancy Heinrich, CEO of Laramie Plains Community FCU.

To support the Credit Union Legislative Action Committee (CULAC), a "family feud" fundraiser was held on Sept. 8, raising more than $1,000.

Through a live auction, $1,583 was raised to support Credit Union House and another $2,100 was raised for the newly formed Wyoming Credit Union League Foundation. CUNA Mutual Group and SunCorp Corporate Credit Union were the two main corporate sponsors for the annual meeting.
