Youth Week Focuses On Growing, Saving The Green

MADISON, Wis. - Add credit union youth to those becoming ecologically sensitive. “Got Green? Grow It at Your Credit Union” was chosen as the theme for National Credit Union Youth Week, April 20-26. Youth Week will coincide with the annual April 22 Earth Day event, and participants will be encouraged to build good saving habits and change current habits to protect the environment.

The theme was selected from ideas sent by staff from more than 50 credit unions. “Got Green” is a variation of “Save the Green,” a theme suggested by Jennifer Millard from Desert Energy CU in Tucson, Ariz., in 2006. Themes were voted on by nearly 500 credit union staff members. Along with National Credit Union Youth Week is the fifth annual National Youth Saving Challenge, which provides credit unions an opportunity to bring youth to the credit union to open accounts.
