Army Aviation Center FCU, Daleville, Ala., donated $17,155.01 to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation after a two-month, company-wide fundraising campaign. AACFCU employees and members donated $10,155.01 and then AACFCU donated an additional $7,000.

Service CU, Portsmouth, N.H., contributed a total of $15,000 to the Dan and Renee Plummer Endowment Fund, which provides support to military members and veterans who are battling addiction.

Study abroad scholarship

TBA CU, Traverse City, Mich., awarded a $1,000 Study Abroad Scholarship to Jacob Davis of TC West Senior High. The Study Abroad Scholarship Program was launched in 2015 with the purpose to help fund a student’s study of foreign language and culture.

Scholarship essays

Gerber FCU, Fremont, Mich., awarded a total of $2,750 to winners of its Annual Essay Scholarship program. Entrants were asked to explain, “What does financial literacy mean to you? Why is it important? What should we as a community do to teach financial literacy to your generation?” in 300 to 500 words.

Performance area debuts

The Jones Academy of Fine Arts and Dual Language celebrated the completion of its building and the new outdoor performance area with a community event. The outdoor performance area was funded through the Spirit Debit Reward program from Texas Trust CU in Arlington.

Carolina Trust FCU, Myrtle Beach, S.C., celebrated National Credit Union Youth Month with a "Give A Hoot About Saving" writing contest for youth ages 5-17. Participants were entered for a chance to win $100 plus have $500 donated to their respective schools.

A total of $21,380 was donated to the Vermont Foodbank as a result of Seven Days' 8th annual Vermont Restaurant Week. This popular event was presented by Vermont FCU, Burlington, Vt., and organized by Seven Days.

Red Canoe gives the gifts for its 80th birthday

Red Canoe CU, Longview, Wash., celebrated its 80th anniversary by launching a giving project called 80 Things. The staff selected nine organizations across the Northwest to receive donations, including 80 blankets for the Villager Retirement Center in Castle Rock, Wash., 80 lbs. of dog food and 80 cans of cat food for the Human Society of Cowlitz County, and more.

First Financial FCU, Lutherville, Md., partnered with Carroll County Public Schools to sponsor this year’s Math 24 Tournament Challenge. The challenge included 15 elementary schools, which each sent a team of four mathletes to compete.
