St. Helens Community CU, St. Helens, Ore., launched its Go Local app, which brings discounts to members at nearly 50 Columbia County businesses. The free smartphone app, available from the Apple Store and Google Play Store, pushes instant offers and discounts to members based on their current proximity to area merchants.
Great Lakes CU, Bannockburn, Ill., presented member Linda Hall with a $5,000 vacation package after she was randomly selected in a drawing held at the conclusion of the CU's Swipe Away, Fly Away contest. Separately, GLCU bought sandwiches for 50 Jimmy John's customers.
Ent CU, Colorado Springs, Colo., awarded 25 Colorado nonprofit agencies a total of $79,600 through its 2016 Youth Endowment Series program grants.
Allegacy FCU, Winston-Salem, N.C., is recognizing unsung heroes in its community this year. The latest was Skip Tussey, a volunteer at Hospice & Palliative Care Center. Tussey received a certificate and the CU made a $500 gift to Hospice in Tussey's name.
Island FCU, Hauppauge, N.Y., opened its new Island @ Stony Brook branch. This is the second Island branch to open on the Stony Brook University grounds and its ninth branch on Long Island.
Westbury, N.Y.-based NEFCU kicked off its summer-long partnership with Sustainable Long Island by donating $15,000 to the local organization, which is committed to environmental health, economic development and social equity across Long Island.
Pacific Marine CU, Oceanside, Calif., held a month-long campaign at each of its 11 branches, with employees and members making monetary donations to raise a total of $2,532 for the local Wounded Warrior Homes, aiding the "Help Build a Home" campaign.
Naveo CU, Somerville, Mass., collaborated with Union Square Main Streets to host a free business financing workshop. Union Square Main Streets works collaboratively to support and advance the economic strength of the Union Square business district.
Michigan Community CU, Jackson, Mich., had multiple winners this year from its Save to Win account program, with prizes ranging from $25 to $500. The quarterly winner, Jason C., won $500.
Members and employees of Allegany County Teachers FCU, LaVale, Md., raised $1,700 for the March of Dimes.
