Blood drive
Firefly CU, Burnsville, Minn., partnered with Memorial Blood Centers to host its semi-annual blood drive. The drive’s theme was two-fold as employees helped save lives with each unit of blood, as well as raise scholarship funds for local students at Burnsville High School.
SPCA donation
Western New York FCU, West Seneca, N.Y., donated $2,000 to the Erie County SPCA to help the organization build a brand new facility.
Casual for a good cause
Each month, TruStone Financial FCU, Plymouth, Minn., holds a company-wide Charity Casual Day, where staff was able to wear casual attire in exchange for donations. The latest recipient was The Shalom Center, a non-profit organization that provides food, shelter and support service needs to the homeless and low-income population of Kenosha, Wis.
Checking items off the wish list
New Horizons CU, Mobile, Ala., partnered with the City of Mobile Animal Shelter for a donation drive benefitting shelter animals. New Horizons employees and members contributed a wide range of toys and supplies from the shelter’s “wish list.”
A dose of reality
New Dimensions FCU, Waterville, Maine, visited Messalonskee High School to host a Financial Fitness Fair for 720 students. The mission was to provide education on financial security and basic real-life budgeting concepts.
Helping kids in need
La Capitol FCU, Baton Rouge, La., partnered with the Salvation Army to donate gifts to local children in need. Through the efforts and generosity of both members and employees, La Cap raised more than $7,400 and provided gifts to more than 65 children.
Saying 'Hello!' to the community
St. Paul, Minn.-based City & County CU said “Hello” to the community by hosting a grand opening celebration for its new branch in Woodbury, Minn. Members of the community were able to enjoy a hot cocoa bar, visit with “Frozen” characters and tour the new branch.
Celebrating Credit Union Day!
Greater Nevada CU, Carson City, Nev., celebrated its 68th birthday on Jan. 24, and it received a proclamation from the City of Reno designating the date as “Greater Nevada Credit Union Day.”

Neighbors CU, St. Louis, donated $9,970.22 to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals of Greater St. Louis. The CU held numerous fundraisers, including a bake sale, paper balloon sales, Six Flags ticket sales, holiday money envelope sales, employee dress down days and more.

Stopping suicide
BMI FCU, Dublin, Ohio, gave $875 to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. The donation will be used to help fund the Out of Darkness Walk in September, which provides support to those affected by teen suicide.
