Jeanne D’Arc CU, Lowell, Mass., gave $1,500 to Hidden Battles, which works to preserve the healthy minds of veterans, fire fighters, police officers and first responders who struggle with PTSD, job-related stress, traumatic brain injuries and the struggles of reentering civilian life.

Financial literacy award

Educators CU, Mount Pleasant, Wis., received the Governor’s Financial Literacy Award for its work providing financial literacy in the classroom. The CU supplies local schools with digital learning program EverFi, and students use the program to learn about important financial topics.

Employees of True Sky CU, Oklahoma City, Okla., collected more than 100 stuffed animals to donate to The C.A.R.T House, a non-profit that provides a child friendly, home-like atmosphere for children and their non-offending caregivers in an active abuse investigation.

Hurricane relief donation

First Capital FCU, York, Pa., donated $1,215 to the National CU Foundation’s Disaster Relief Fund, CUAid. CUAid.coop raises money for credit union people affected by major disasters such as the California wildfires, Hurricanes Irma and Maria, and Tropical Storm Harvey.

Care for kids

Philadelphia-based American Heritage CU committed $60,000 over a five-year period to Doylestown Hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Nursery. The nursery offers Level 2 neonatal intensive care for infants who require additional care due to illness or prematurity. Separately, the CU’s mortgage services subsidiary donated $3,000 to Cookies for Kids’ Cancer.

Belco Community CU, Harrisburg, Pa., took part in welcoming 10 area New Year’s babies by partnering with local hospitals. Belco donated a gift basket to the parents of the first baby born in the New Year at each hospital.

St. Joseph’s FCU, Canton, Ohio, donated Ramsey Solutions’ Foundations in Personal Finance curriculum to Louisville High School. Foundations in Personal Finance is a curriculum for teaching financial literacy to students.
