New Horizons expands to Florida

Mobile, Ala.-based New Horizons CU held a grand opening for its 10th branch overall and first in Florida, in downtown Pensacola. The event was held in conjunction with Opening Night for the Double-A Pensacola Blue Wahoos, making it a tailgate. Separately, the CU sponsored the Mobile County School System’s Hi-Q tournaments, academic competition for 14 high schools.

Baton Rouge, La.-based Pelican State CU celebrated its newest branch in Monroe, La., by hosting a ribbon-cutting ceremony and giving away 500 lbs. of crawfish to its members.

Veterans conference

Portsmouth, N.H.-based Service CU hosted more than 200 people at the 7th Annual Seacoast Veterans Conference, where veterans of every age and military branch shared their stories of active duty and returning home from World War II through post-9/11.

Arkansas Children's Hospital donation

Arkansas FCU, Jacksonville, Ark., donated $47,281.81 to Arkansas Children’s Hospital. Since 1998, AFCU has contributed nearly $950,000 to ACH. This year’s donation will help fund ACH’s investment in Neurally Adjusted Ventilatory Assist, a new technology to provide improved ventilator management for neonatal care.

Nutmeg State Financial CU, based in Rocky Hill, Conn., opened its latest location inside the ShopRite on Bull Hill Lane in Orange. This is the first branch for the credit union in the New Haven County area.

Introducing ITMs

Rochester, N.H.-based Holy Rosary CU unveiled its new interactive teller machine system, HRCU Live, which is open to the public at the drive-up of the CU’s newly renovated branch in Dover, N.H. Unlike traditional ATMs, an ITM allows most banking transactions to be done remotely through video chat with a teller in HRCU’s member support center.

John Schmidt, a member of Atlanta-based Delta Community CU, was a winner in the Season of Giving, a cause marketing campaign benefitting the 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization Good360. Fiserv made a total $45,000 donation to Good360 as part of the Season of Giving.

Employees of Jersey Shore FCU, Northfield, N.J., raised $580 by wearing jeans to work on Fridays over a three-month period. The funds were donated to the Alcove Center for Grieving Children & Families to continue its mission in bereavement support services.

A+ FCU, Austin, Texas, named Brianna Lopez, a sophomore at Connally High School, the A+ Grand Champion as winner of its fashion contest. Lopez was presented with a $300 gift card for the outfit she created using A+FCU Connally High School t-shirts.
