Throughout 2014 NuMark CU, Joliet, Ill., collected donations for the "Wreaths Across America" project, dedicated to honoring our nation's heroes for their ultimate sacrifice. NuMark raised $2,671 and sponsored 276 wreaths at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, Ill.
The Hanscom FCU Charitable Foundation, Hanscom AFB, Mass., donated $30,375 to the Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless.
Andrews FCU, Suitland, Md., sponsored the "Five Days of Christmas" in partnership with the American Forces Network and Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation.
In Eau Claire, Wis., Royal CU members and non-members donated more than 500 toys during the RCU Holiday Toy Drive. The toys were donated to the Salvation Army.
In Appleton, Wis., Fox Communities CU's Holiday Party had a large silent auction thanks to many donors. The event raised $21,000 for a number of local non-profits.
The Associated Credit Union Foundation hosted its 7th Annual Making Caring Count for Christmas Program, which provided holiday gifts for more than 750 children and senior citizens in Metro Atlanta who otherwise would have had nothing to open Christmas morning.
TruMark Financial CU, Trevose, Pa., donated 435 pounds of food to the Bucks County Opportunity Council, Lower Bucks County, while its employees donated $700. Separately, for the fifth year in a row, TruMark ranked in the top 100 Best Places to Work in Pennsylvania.
Los Angeles FCU, Glendale, Calif., donated gifts to the 22nd annual Spark of Love Toy Drive at the City of Glendale Fire Department.
In Baton Rouge, La., Terrell Lewis, a Louisiana humanitarian, was the winner of Pelican State CU's Pay It Forward Facebook Contest, which encouraged the public to perform good deeds that benefit others. Lewis received $500 for himself and $500 to donate to a charitable organization.
Meriwest CU, San Jose, Calif., partnered with the San Jose Fire Department to collect 14 bags of toys and $300 in monetary donations for families in need in Santa Clara County.
