Supporting the Airmen Leadership School
Hanscom FCU, Hanscom AFB, Mass., supported the Airman Leadership School at Hanscom AFB with a $2,200 donation. The funds will allow the program to hold celebrations when each class graduates throughout the year.
Education grants
Southeastern CU, Valdosta, Ga., awarded six Valdosta City and Lowndes County schools with education grants totaling $5,350 as part of its Community Partners in Education initiative.
Coming soon: CoastHills new HQ
CoastHills CU, currently based in Lompoc, Calif., unveiled plans to build a 90,000-square-foot corporate headquarters at a landmark location in Santa Maria. The $25 million, three-story building will occupy a highly visible parcel of the Enos Ranchos development. Groundbreaking is expected to take place in Q2 2017 with construction scheduled to be completed in late 2018.
Student-run branch finally opens
In Burnsville, Minn., Firefly CU’s first student-run branch opened at Burnsville High School. The planning of the branch, which has been ongoing for more than a year, is a continuing collaboration between students, BHS and District 191 staff, and the Firefly executive team.
Foundation donation
State Employees’ CU, Raleigh, N.C., and its member-funded SECU Foundation awarded the CarolinaEast Foundation a three-year, $3.5 million grant toward the construction of the SECU Comprehensive Cancer Center at CarolinaEast Medical Center in New Bern. Separately, the SECU Foundation gave a $75,000 grant to help fund Season 6 of the Biz Kid$ public TV series.
Special guest at PenFed's brand new HQ
Several hundred local business, political, community and military leaders joined Pentagon FCU to inaugurate its new headquarters in Tysons Corner, Va. Barbara Comstock, Northern Virginia’s 10th district Congresswoman, was among those who spoke at the event.
'Do Gooders Unite'
As part of its Do Gooders Unite campaign, Blue FCU, Fort Collins, Colo., donated $10,000 to downtown Wellington and $20,000 to downtown Fort Collins when it reached its goal of 300 new checking accounts.
CMN donation
Air Force FCU, San Antonio, gave $1,727.54 to the Children’s Hospital of San Antonio as part of the Credit Unions for Kids fundraising program.

Ugly sweaters and the humane society
Pacific Marine CU, Oceanside, Calif., held its annual Ugly Sweater Contest to show support for local charities. Team pictures were posted on the PMCU Facebook page for fellow staff, members and the public to vote. The branch team in Yucca Valley, Calif., won and chose to donate $500 to the San Diego Humane Society.
Bake sales and raffles lead to big donation
Employees of Campus FCU, Baton Rouge, La., held bake sales, raffles, jeans days and more to support Our Lady of the Lake’s Children’s Hospital, raising $8,386.42 in one year.
