Preventing trauma and abuse

Employees of U.S. Eagle FCU raised more than $1,800 for All Faiths through internal fundraising efforts. All Faiths' mission is to serve as the premier trauma healing center by empowering generations of New Mexicans to create pathways to prevent and transcend the effects of trauma and abuse.

50th anniversary celebration

As part of Suffolk Federal’s 50th anniversary, the Medford, N.Y.-based CU is hosting a “Celebrate & Do Good” campaign. All donations collected will benefit Long Island Cares, the Harry Chapin Food Bank. Three branches already have wrapped up their monthly contests: West Babylon, Islandia and Commack. The fundraising total exceeds $2,850 and is growing.

Raleigh, N.C.-based State Employees’ CU and its SECU Foundation provided Eblen Charities with a 15-year, interest-free loan of up to $2.8 million to build the Williams-Baldwin Teacher Campus apartments, offering area teachers an affordable place to call home.

Educators of the year

OnPoint Community CU, Portland, Ore., named James Nosen K–8 Educator of the Year and David Valenzuela 9–12 Educator of the Year. The top prize pays each teacher’s mortgage for one school year and awards a $2,500 donation to their schools for resources and supplies.

The Arts Council for CSUN (California State University, Northridge) awarded the third annual Matadors Community Credit Union Award for Student Projects to student Hedy Cardenas for her “Eleven Million” project. The $1,000 Award was created by Matadors Community CU, Chatsworth, Calif., and the Arts Council for CSUN.
