South Florida Educational FCU, Miami, awarded full tuition university scholarships to 15 high school seniors at its annual Hubert O. Sibley Scholarship ceremony. This year’s winners represent 12 different high schools from Miami-Dade County.
New Hampshire Reality Fairs
The 8th Annual Spaulding High School CU 4 Reality Fair was co-sponsored by Holy Rosary CU, Rochester, N.H., and Northeast CU, Portsmouth, N.H. A number of credit union staffers were on-hand working with some 350 SHS and home-schooled students.
Autism awareness fundraiser
Employees of Scott CU, Edwardsville, Ill., raised nearly $1,500 during a fund drive to support the Illinois Center for Autism during Autism Awareness Month.
Preventing trauma and abuse
Employees of U.S. Eagle FCU raised more than $1,800 for All Faiths through internal fundraising efforts. All Faiths' mission is to serve as the premier trauma healing center by empowering generations of New Mexicans to create pathways to prevent and transcend the effects of trauma and abuse.
50th anniversary celebration
As part of Suffolk Federal’s 50th anniversary, the Medford, N.Y.-based CU is hosting a “Celebrate & Do Good” campaign. All donations collected will benefit Long Island Cares, the Harry Chapin Food Bank. Three branches already have wrapped up their monthly contests: West Babylon, Islandia and Commack. The fundraising total exceeds $2,850 and is growing.
CU walks for cancer care
Nearly 70 friends, family members and employees of Jeanne D’Arc CU, Lowell, Mass., stepped out to support Lowell General Hospital’s 18th Annual TeamWalk for Cancer Care.
Giving teachers a place to call home
Raleigh, N.C.-based State Employees’ CU and its SECU Foundation provided Eblen Charities with a 15-year, interest-free loan of up to $2.8 million to build the Williams-Baldwin Teacher Campus apartments, offering area teachers an affordable place to call home.

Educators of the year
OnPoint Community CU, Portland, Ore., named James Nosen K–8 Educator of the Year and David Valenzuela 9–12 Educator of the Year. The top prize pays each teacher’s mortgage for one school year and awards a $2,500 donation to their schools for resources and supplies.
Honoring the arts
The Arts Council for CSUN (California State University, Northridge) awarded the third annual Matadors Community Credit Union Award for Student Projects to student Hedy Cardenas for her “Eleven Million” project. The $1,000 Award was created by Matadors Community CU, Chatsworth, Calif., and the Arts Council for CSUN.

Kyle W. of Waukegan, Ill., was presented with a $5,000 vacation package courtesy of Great Lakes CU, Bannockburn, Ill. Kyle was a randomly selected member of the credit union who qualified to win GLCU’s Swipe Away, Fly Away contest by using his debit card.

Arbor Financial CU, Kalamazoo, Mich., was presented with the 2017 award for being one of “West Michigan’s Best and Brightest Companies to Work For.”
Walking for the Greater Good
Riverdale, Utah-based America First CU sponsored a team of employees to walk in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in Downtown Las Vegas as part of its Greater Good employee volunteer program.
