Cut that ribbon!

Los Angeles FCU, Glendale, Calif., hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony to debut its new ATM at the Port of Los Angeles Contracts and Maintenance building in Wilmington, Calif. LAFCU also presented a tour of its corporate office to the Holy Family High School College Preparatory.

A cause that hits close to home

Allegany County Teachers FCU raised $800.05 to support the mission of the Alzheimer’s Association. The campaign honored both Erika Bonner, who was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in 1993, and her daughter, Christie Clark, who is vice president of the CU.

First Capital FCU, York, Pa., was the title sponsor for Leg Up Farm’s Fall Fest. Leg Up Farm is a non-profit therapy center in York County for children with disabilities and developmental delays. An estimated 3,000 people came out for the free event.

In Raleigh, N.C., members of State Employees’ CU, via the SECU Foundation, made a $500,000 grant to North Carolina Feeding America Food Banks to assist victims in the counties directly impacted by Hurricane Matthew.

Henderson State University CU, Arkadelphia, Ark., hosted a meet-and-greet with Arkansas Rep. Richard Womack. Because Womack is a credit union-friendly candidate, Henderson CEO Sharon Hearnsberger presented him with an ARCUPAC check to support his then upcoming re-election campaign (he won), while explaining the credit union difference.

Connex CU North Haven, Conn., awarded $3,000 to local police officer Marilisa Anania, the grand prize winner of ConneXfactor, a financial fitness competition in which five individuals compete to see who can improve their fiscal situation the most in a six-month span.
